Strategic Planning in the Payroll Department: Establishing a Plan to Revitalize Your Direct Deposit Program
Challenge: Direct deposit programs have been in effect in most payroll departments for at least 20 years. But participation has stagnated at roughly 75 percent in the United States. European payroll managers, however, average upward of 90 percent participation. With a cost savings between 50 cents and $1.25 per payment over paper checks, payroll managers need to increase direct deposit participation.
