Accounts Payable Essentials

This is the perfect refresher course for experienced AP professionals, looking to hone their skill sets— and for junior AP professionals, looking to develop their knowledge base. You'll learn the requisite skills needed to be successful in today’s challenging AP environment and the best practices that pertain to internal controls, process functions, tax & regulatory, technology, travel & entertainment and vendor relations. After completing this curriculum, you’ll be able to better meet your professional goals and develop your career as an AP expert.

The Accounts Payable Essentials Curriculum consists of the following courses:
Internal Controls — Parts A & B: Examines the key elements of implementing and maintaining an effective internal control system, including the role of internal audit, the four types of common fraud, fraud prevention techniques and the mandates of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002
Process Functions — Parts A, B & C: Explores the pros and cons of different methods used to receive and process transactions, including Procurement Cards (P-Cards)
Tax & Regulatory: Addresses critical tax and regulatory issues that Accounts Payable professionals face both within and outside the United States and also the fines, penalties and jail terms that can result from non-compliance
Technology — Parts A & B: Identifies key technologies that enhance efficiency and should be investigated within Accounts Payable and the procure-to-pay process, paying close attention to data security and encryption issues that affect the integrity of transactions
Travel & Entertainment: Details T & E policies and procedures you need to know to comply with IRS regulations and protect both your employees and your company — the cost-saving, data-recording, and benefits of T&E automation are also addressed
Vendor Relations: Emphasizes the importance of managing your vendor master file, with special attention to the six goals and four controls that must be in place in every AP Department
